Polished Concrete

Polished Concrete is a concrete flooring option, with concrete floor exposure being the final finish. Special aggregates are used to expose the concrete to a certain level, where concrete is treated with a chemical densifier and ground with progressively finer grinding tools to achieve a polish. Most common aggregates are granite, river stone and black basalt, although the aggregate can be almost anything. A penetrating sealer is used in the final process to enhance the floor and keep its properties maintained for a long period. Types of final exposure:

Polished Concrete

Polished Concrete

Full Exposure

Aggregate to achieve the full stone look. It is a stunning finish but totally depends on the quality of the concrete poring.

Hit and Miss Style

Exposure here and there, most common used polished concrete with exposure rate depending on floor condition. Recommended to already existing / older floors. Very Affordable.

Honed Concrete

Micro grinding with less aggregate exposure.

Note: There are different levels of grinding possible, depending on how much stone you would like to see in your polished concrete.

Polished concrete is considered a good sustainable design flooring option, because it makes use of the materials already present. Most modern buildings are built on a concrete slab; polishing the exposed concrete eliminates the energy and material consumed by applying a floor covering. It is something to consider when building or modernising towards a more green solution. Polished concrete is suitable for:

  • Homes
  • Showrooms
  • Commercial properties
  • Factories
